Yes, I know, this song is 10 years old. That's OK - I still hate it as much now as I did back when it was released. I'm sure there are newer Toby Keith songs that I would hate just as much as I hate this one... but this one probably tops them all.
I have no idea what album this song is from. I will make no effort to uncover this information. All I know is that at the time this song was popular, I shared an office with a man who loved to listen to country music. Now, it's not that I completely hate country music - on the contrary, it can be fun in (very) small doses. However, it was hard to tolerate listening to it all day, every day. I grew very, very tired of certain country songs and artists; I grew particularly weary of I Wanna Talk About Me by Toby Keith. Back then, hearing even the first few bars of this song sent me fleeing from the room and desperately humming another song so that this one wouldn't get stuck in my head. Usually my efforts were in vain! It also seemed like every store, restaurant, movie theater, etc., that we went to that played music would blast this song. I just couldn't get away from it! To this day, I continue to have an almost physical reaction to this song.
